Helping small and new manufacturers build practical, right-sized quality systems and troubleshoot active production and process issues — so problems get caught before they become expensive.
Get in TouchI help small and new manufacturers in Maine implement quality processes that fit the size and stage of their business — not an oversized system borrowed from a large corporation. Whether you're standing up your first quality management system or troubleshooting a problem that's actively affecting yield or product performance, I bring over 25 years of hands-on quality engineering, supplier qualification, and manufacturing process experience to the table.
My background in package qualification and materials analysis gives me direct knowledge of how material properties interrelate and how they must be characterized to predict reliability performance in application. Combined with supplier quality and quality systems experience, I help clients get material selection and specification right the first time — because incomplete specifications are one of the most common, and most avoidable, sources of manufacturing variation.
Building right-sized ISO 9001 and IATF 16949-aligned quality systems for early-stage manufacturers, including documentation, traceability, and internal audit readiness.
Guiding the Advanced Product Quality Planning process to establish a frozen, documented process of record so approved manufacturing processes don't drift after qualification.
Designing and verifying DOEs to confirm the right materials and process parameters before they go into production.
Evaluating and qualifying suppliers, and writing complete material specifications that prevent the variation that comes from under-specifying what you actually need.
Hands-on root cause analysis and corrective action (8D, 5 Why, FMEA) for problems already affecting your product or process — not just future-state planning.
Implementing SPC, FMEA, and control plans to monitor and hold gains once a process is qualified.
My quality consulting work draws directly on 25+ years of career experience across semiconductor, materials, and manufacturing quality roles. A few highlights:
Served as supplier quality engineer, then quality systems engineer, for a silicon carbide semiconductor manufacturing site. Built the site's quality system from the ground up and led a team of 160+ through their first third-party audit, achieving IATF 16949 certification.
Facilitated small manufacturers at the early stages of ISO 9001 certification, translating quality system requirements into practical, right-sized processes — documented procedures, traceability, and continuous improvement practices for teams with no formal quality infrastructure.
Entered silicon carbide manufacturing at its earliest standardization stage, translating deep technical science from PhD-level experts into actionable specifications for managers and manufacturing — focusing quality effort on the areas that mattered most for reliability and yield.
As I build out my client roster in this practice area, I'll be adding case studies and testimonials here — in the meantime, this background reflects the experience I bring to every engagement.
